Letters & Stories From My Jailed Deaf Dad

Cigo Crews, pre-jail

Producer and publicist Kambri Crews will read aloud from Love, Daddy, a weblog centered around Kambri's correspondence with her deaf mute father who just completed his fifth year of a 20 year sentence for the attempted murder of his third wife.

On the site, Kambri shares stories of growing up in the deep woods of Texas, where she and her family lived in a tent, tin shed, trailer, then back to a tin shed before moving to Ft. Worth where all hell broke loose. T

ABOUT ME: KAMBRI CREWS
I grew up in the deep woods of Montgomery, Texas where I lived with my hard partying Deaf parents in everything from a tent, to a tin shed to a trailer then a barn, sometimes without the simplest modern day luxuries and often looking after myself.

When I was 16, my father erupted into a jealous rage and nearly killed my mother. I was able to prevent the assault and called 911. After this traumatic event, my mother and I went into hiding. At 17 years old and still in high school, I married a 23-year-old sailor I had known for five months with my mother’s legal permission. Over the years, I earned a paralegal degree and pursued banking, promotional and acting careers.

Eventually, I divorced and moved to New York City where I immersed myself in the entertainment industry and produced events featuring Emmy winning writers from the Daily Show, Saturday Night Live, The Onion and more. I worked on Broadway and Off-Broadway productions for promotions and publicity and co-produced an event for Governor Ann Richards.

Most recently, I founded Ballyhoo Promotions,Ballyhoo Promotions, an event planning and PR company in New York City whose clients include my husband (comedian Christian Finnegan from Best Week Ever & Chappelle's Show), Jest Magazine and the NYC comedy nightclub Comix. I've had the pleasure of working/producing/promoting shows with Richard Lewis, Robert Wuhl, Craig Ferguson, Dave Attell, Caroline Rhea, Alex Borstein, Tommy Chong, Jon Lovitz & many more great comedians.
